The Middle Part
The middle part is where the work begins. It's being on the camel way out in the desert and you can't go back; so you plod forward, one hoof in front of the other. This is where the mental work happens. The excitement of starting the journey is just a memory now, and the finish line is too far away to gallop towards the end. So you plod. And plod.
Yup, I'm in the middle part of this journey now. I started igo100 back in August and have come a long way since then. But I still have much to do for both the fundraising and physical training parts of this goal. However, I'll complete each step and make my mark in the sand with intention. And I'll continue to believe that we will raise enough money to build a school, and I'll complete my end of the deal – the 100 km.
Yesterday I received some excellent feedback on my training plan from one of our readers, who happens to know a thing or two about ultra-distance running. As a result I've adjusted my plan and may need to do so again – this is an experiment, and I'm willing to make changes as needed with an open mind.
To any new readers out there, welcome to my journey. Feel free to comment on any blog entries, and you can contact me through the Contact Me tab at the top of the page. I hope to make this place as interesting as I can and I encourage your participation – so go ahead and ask questions if you've got 'em.
