Walking Through the Door (Part 2)
…continued from my last post….
I went for the door.
I did the full marathon. And it was very good – no serious pain, just a lot of fatigue in the last 10 km and a sore butt. The only issue I had was the fact that I was still suffering from a sinus cold, so I've been paying dearly this week with a weakened immune system. I'll spare you the nasty details, but it's been a rough few days. Just ask anyone who has seen or heard me lately. Three viruses in one month – must be a record of some kind. Hopefully dear daughter won't bring any more of those home for awhile…pretty please…
So, what happened after the marathon? Did I reach enlightenment? Did I break free from the chains of self-imposed limitations? Was I inspired to write a book?
What was on the other side of the door?
A feeling of peace. Most likely from the release of endorphins. But also from the release of the pressure to do it. I did it. And now this distance will become simply another part of my routine.
Maybe the enlightenment will come later…
