What Have You Learned in 2009?
No new year would be complete without resolutions to lose weight, get fit, stop bad habits, start good habits, get a new car, or get a new life.
On the other side of the coin, how much time do we spend on reviewing the year that just passed? Maybe we’ve thrown a cursory glance and shudder at the year behind us, glad it’s over; or broke out in a broad smile at the memory of a big achievement. But other than that, what have we learned from our experiences this past year? What things helped move us towards our unique version of an ideal life? What moved us further away?
Here are 12 things I learned in 2009:
- Even a GPS gets lost at times, particularly while driving on Vancouver Island. Check out what this poor couple went through
- I love to row more than I thought.
- Sometimes you gotta stop thinking and just jump into the water.
- Some things should not be juiced together.
- Boogers of an amazing size can come out of the tiniest noses.
- Some people always care, and some never will.
- This social media thing is fascinating, how it is all connected – blogging, twitter, youtube, forums, facebook and so much more, all interconnected and interdependent. Like a spider on cocaine…the web is being spun at increasing rates of speed and complexity.
- Whenever there is a new technology or paradigm, there are countless ways to automate it or exploit it to make money.
- People want to be valued.
- I can achieve things even while I am terrified.
- Writing a few blog posts ahead of time is a good idea, in case I get sick (like today)
- Sometimes I am too serious.
Lots more to think about, but that can wait until January 1. Goodbye 2009!
Happy New Year everyone!
